The Nominators!
I’m really honored to be nominated by these two awesome bloggers for the award! Do visit their website!
Ray’s Blog: The Ray Journey
Ray is on a journey to create passive income sources and achieve financial freedom. She’s super good at creating clear and concise guides for a bunch of practical skills like how to Pinterest, investing with little money, making an ebook and even ways to save money!
Emily’s Blog: That Weird Girl Life
Emily’s blog is an introspective glimpse into her life. She writes about a variety of subjects – from the serious, like mental health issues, to the fun, like horror movie recommendations. These days, many blogs are missing a sense of warmth, but that’s never the case with Emily’s blog!
Thank you so much for the nomination, ladies! I really appreciate it.
Ray’s 11 Questions for Me
1. What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
Unfortunately, the first thing I do when I wake is: I check my phone. I’m trying to kick this habit though.
2. What is your spirit animal?
The cat! They’re the first animal I fell in love with. Also, I identify with aloof cats energetically – I’m lazy, not very excitable and can snap when deprived of my personal space, but I come running at the smell of food. I love to eat.
3. What do you do when you feel uninspired?
I’ll try doing different activities to see if I can get myself to do something. But more often, I’ll end up watching YouTube videos and sleeping too much. Sometimes I get all mopey.
4. What is the last thing you do before you go to bed?
I wish I can say I meditate or something productive. But I simply brush my teeth!
5. What is the worst food you’ve ever tasted?
Pig kidney. Well, I didn’t eat it. I ate some shredded ginger that was stir-fried with the kidney, thinking they were pork slices. Oh my, it tasted literally like shit. I spat the ginger out but the taste lingered. Ugh.
6. List 3 of your best qualities.
- I can see things from different people’s point-of-view
- Frugal
- Open-minded for the most part
7. One thing you will never go anywhere without.
Clothes! I mean, if I go to the store nearby, I don’t need my phone. If I go for a walk, I don’t need my purse. I’ve walked barefooted in public places before, so that leaves clothes.
8. When you close your eyes, what do you see?
I see vastness in the darkness.
9. Name one thing that has changed about you/your life in the last 5 years.
5 years ago, I came across an ancient teaching about consciousness, and that changed my entire understanding of life.
10. What is one sport you wish you excelled at?
Swimming – so I can swim in the ocean with dolphins, and turtles, and plastic. Oops, can’t help remembering that we can’t experience the ocean without experiencing plastic anymore.
I’m actually afraid of the ocean, yet part of me wishes I could free-dive. Should I have answered free-dive? There’s something magical and super liberating about free-diving.
11. Who was your first blogger friend?
My first blogger friend is a Singaporean blogger Garfield Hug. I was really really new and my blog was a ghost town with one visitor on a good day. Thank you, Garfield Hug!
Emily’s 11 Questions for me
1. How has blogging positively impacted your life?
I feel I can express myself a little better, in both written and spoken forms. Also, it has made me several friends! Emily and Ray are two of them!
2. When do you like to blog: morning, afternoon, or night?
I enjoy working at night, but I blog anytime I can get myself to write. That’s because I’m a pro-procrastinator so I’m always trying to slack off. Anytime I can write, I write.
3. What is the one food you refuse to eat?
Innards. In Singapore and many Asian countries, the Chinese love their braised innards, but I could never get into it. I’m usually very curious about food, but I don’t remember ever trying or wanting to try innards. The kidney incident was unfortunate, but at least it was tainted ginger I ate!
4. If aliens came to earth, what would you first show them that you think is cool?
A cat or a dog. They may never have known the fuzzy joy a furry animal brings. You know, them with their cold looking gray skin and skinny bodies. They always look like they could use some warmth. I think they’ll love our planet if they saw our animals.
5. If you could switch places with one person for the day, who would it be?
George R. R. Martin. So I can read what he’s working on. You know why. #BeNiceToGeorge
6. What is your favorite social media medium and why?
Instagram. It has become my photo album over the years, unintentionally. I’m so overwhelmed by the number of photos I have on my phone, laptop, and harddisk it’s hard to browse through them. What I have on Instagram is like my curated pictures.
What’s more, I get to write long captions with the picture so I know exactly what I was thinking about when I posted it!
7. What’s your perfect type of vacation: sight-seeing or relaxing?
Sight-seeing. There are so many incredible places on earth! I’d love to visit more places.
8. If you could travel back (or forward!) in time, when and where would you want to visit?
The United States in the early ’60s. First of all, I love ’60s music. Secondly, I’d love to experience the social atmosphere during that time. Small towns were alive and mom-and-pop shops were still a thing. People cooked and walked more, and cars were handsome.
More importantly, they had the beat generation and the hippie movement! I think those were interesting times with some interesting (and I assume, intellectual) people. They straddled the lines between thinking and dreaming, innocence and rebellion, conservatism and liberalism.
9. What is your least favorite thing about blogging?
Promoting my blog. Haha! I’m bad at selling things. Please share and subscribe! :p
10. Three cutest animals: go!
Cats, dogs, and squirrels.
11. If you could spend the whole day doing something you love, what would it be?
I love writing, but I’ve been writing (or struggling to write) almost every day. At this moment, the weather being nice and cool, I’d like to take a nice long walk in nature and come home to a horror-movie night. With potato chips, oreo cookies, and wine. Maybe some cheese too.
Told you, I love food!

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my response to Ray and Emily‘s interesting questions. Don’t forget to check out their blogs!
Yay! This was so much fun to read a double entry tag! That’s a brilliant idea! I loved reading all of your answers and I’m so glad you answered a cat or a dog to what you would show aliens because that’s exactly what I would have done, haha. I love these types of blogger tags because I really feel like you get to know the blogger more 🙂 And squirrels are a very underrated cute animal!!!
Emily | https://www.thatweirdgirllife.com
Haha! I got the idea from Ray. She did a x4 entry! It’s awesome to know that you’d have shown the aliens the same “thing”! Great minds. :p I’m glad you agree that squirrels are cute. I mean, just look at their fluffy tails!
I really enjoyed reading your answers Julie! And it looks like we have a lot of things in common, like the feeling about free-diving, the food, the overwhelming amount of photos, walking in cool weather and horror films….lol
Thanks for the lovely shoutout too!
Hi Ray, that’s great to know! I don’t like pineapples on my pizza too. And we’re both introverts. I think we’ll get along fine. Haha! Thanks for reading and commenting!
