Freedom and The City Bird

By Julie

Deep in the throes of society,
resides a little bird.

Tides of emotions rumbled beneath,
directing its every turn.

As it paced around its little box,
and time slipped by,
the bird longed to fly.

But the wheels turn, and
the bird, seeing the box.
Lamented, “how can I!”

Day after day,
the same thoughts circled.
The bird misses the sky.

I don’t plan my doodles, but shapes happened sometimes despite that. In this case, they turned out to be a bird and a box in a city. Then it gave me an idea to write a poem.

That’s the thing about creativity, when you get something started, sometimes it leads you nowhere, sometimes it leads you to an unexpected place.

I was never good in literature, so please pardon my amateur attempt. I enjoyed myself though, doing both the doodle and the poem.
